No Small Plans Productions is a Chicago-based Event Production and Public Relations studio. Inspired by the doctrine born from the Chicago World’s Fair that only the grandest plans have the magic to stir our souls, NSP creates work that both provides a platform for the city’s emerging talent and a dazzling experience for the guests.
Since launching in the fall of 2012 we’ve produced dozens of rallies, events, fundraisers, television premieres, and event boat cruises that have sold out and drawn round the block lines throughout the city of Chicago.
By combining our signature trifecta of Event Planning, Production and Public Relations we aim to create welcoming spaces for people of diverse identities and expressions to experience entertainment in a locally-supportive, intimate, and authentic format. We especially love working with organizations that work to create positive change and strengthen communities.
Kristen began NSP following her tenure as the Chicago Reader's Director of Marketing. At the Reader, Kristen lead the marketing charge for the print and digital Reader redesign, re-focusing marketing efforts on community engagement via participatory content, social media, and interactive events, including the institution's 40th anniversary, sold-out event series including the Annual Anti-Valentine's Day Party and B Side Booze Cruises, and the annual Best of Chicago party. Prior, she worked in Marketing and Community Relations for Whole Foods Market and Time Out Chicago.
Kristen is a very active leader in the LGBTQAI community, and in 2009 was recognized with a 30 Under 30 honor from Windy City Media Group for her accomplishments. Kristen hosts the award-winning vinyl grooves party Slo 'Mo: Slow jams for homos (and their fans) at venues including the Whistler and the Shrine nightclub. She also teaches public relations at her alma mater, Columbia College Chicago. In her spare time, you can find her in the kitchen baking or hunting for her next jumpsuit.
Alysia joined NSP shortly after graduating from SAIC with a degree in Art History and Art Administration. After interning in The Chicago Reader's Marketing Department she went on to join the curatorial team at Design Cloud Chicago, producing their first ever international exhibition while helping to implement their social media outreach. Most recently she worked as Pagoda Red's first Marketing and Design Assistant and as a Marketing consultant for WBEZ.
Alysia actively serves as the Founder and Creative Director of 1137, a blog that celebrates all things art, design, style, and culture by bringing together a community of creative contributors. Known for combining her smart eye for design with her savvy social media skills, Alysia believes in creating smart, collaborative and socially conscious marketing content that forever puts good vibes out into the world. In her spare time you can find her blogging, working her way through a stack of publications, or dancing to her collection of Motown records.
